Even though I didn't get to sing at the Grand Ol' Opry (above), I still enjoyed my stay in Nashville:
A quick walk down Broadway will show you all the boots and blues you need:
As well as some very strange pets:
Classic, hand-made prints:
And more boots. Of course.
Sometimes you have to pay to park:
And sometimes, no amount of money will get you what you want:
Like I said: Blues...
And boots.
So watch your step, people. You's on Southern Turf now:
I wish this had ended up being a singing quartet:
At the theatre, there was a lovely old cigarette dispenser that had been turned into a pocket-szed art machine. Insert money, choose your art, and cha-ching:
ART!
Pretty nifty, huh?

Happy 100th Birthday, Charles Addams!

Some more shots out and about the Music City:
Almost as good as Dinosaur BBQ:
My parents and I visited the Hermitage hotel: the 30's mens bathroom was apparently a pretty big deal:
Oh, just a barrel of JD:
Hermitage Gingerbread House sculpture of their farm and home-grown veggies:
Lobby:
Original artifacts and clippings from the Hermitage collection:
Momma Huston and one of the marble lions that used to run along the outside of the hotel:
Next we went for breakfast at 417 Union, a WWII bar/restaurant with excellent menu options (blackberry jam? Yes please!):
Singing with statues in the street? Check.

Our flight to Houston was delayed a couple hours. You know what that means!
Once settled in Houston, we made our way over to the Flying Saucer for dinner, beer, and football. This was an excellent decision:
The saucers on the wall are proof of having drunk 200 different beers:
The beer menu was five pages long:

Reason No. 128934583463084765 that I hate being lactarded:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Did a bit of bridesmaid shopping at the BHLDN boutique. Managed to get a dress, belt and shoes on sale!
One less thing to worry about on the road.

Not too much to report from Houston. The city is dead at night, and there hasn't been much time to explore. There was time, however, to complete another cast mural:
The NASA symbol is roughly a half-inch square:
Close up on Fester's costume (which matches what he wears at the end of Act Two):
More soon, but for now I'll leave you with this:
I posted this on Facebook, but it needs to be shared here as well. So moving.

Love the post ... especially the final video clip.
ReplyDeleteI will now go & locate as many versions of Let My Garden Grow as I can find .... BEST choral number ever! (Well ... that and When You're an Addams ... hee hee.)
