"New York, New York."

I just want to take a moment to acknowledge the ten years that have passed, and to be grateful that my family is safe and whole.  Its important to remember not only the tragedy and the loss, but the overwhelming sense of community and outpouring of kindness that followed in its wake.  I am deeply proud to be a New Yorker by birth, and I wish I could be there to honor my hometown and celebrate her powerful growth.  There is no shame in choosing altruism over cynicism - reach out and connect with the people around you today.
