FRIENDS!!
I'm sorry for the hiatus. My mother has been severely disappointed in the lack of photo blogging (she gave me a Long Island guilt trip when last we spoke - she will deny this), so I am trying to catch up with the mother of all picture bombs. First up, HARTFORD!
Our producers sent us a lovely collection of cookies during our week in Connecticut:
They did not, however, send us the Confucious statue that sat outside the stage door:
After weeks and weeks of illness and understudies, we final had the full cast back on stage:
Hartford was particularly exciting because it meant another visit from Momma Huston and Papa Elem. Ms. Huston was curious about the late, great Gil, who has been absent from recent posts. To prove that he was alive and well, I brought him out for a BBQ family lunch:
Stealing a sip of soda:
Momma isn't too fond of these candids, so I had them pose:
I convinced my parents to stay for the Saturday matinee because Jason was going on as Pugsley. As fate would have it, Crista also called out that day:
On stage together at last!
Eating a sweet gift from my mom:
My good Karma continued to flow as Crista called out Sunday as well - the day my agent came to town:
Along with my dear family friends, the Rorkes!
It couldn't have worked out any better: my parents, my agent, and my friends got to see me tear it up in the yellow dress. Just send a thank you up to Lady Luck!

Brian is trying to steal Cortney's role. Bitch.
----------------------------------------------------------
At the airport, there was a LEGO model of the Mark Twain house:
---------------------------------------------------------------
With the speed of light we move on to DURHAM, NC!
Home of some of the tastiest foods I've had yet: pictured below is the Pineapple Basil sorbet from Whole Foods. Dairy-free and possibly the best frozen treat I've ever enjoyed.
------------------------------------------------------------
I did a bit of puppy-sitting while the kids went out for a night of debauchery. I think its a little silly that all these dogs are registered "Emotional Support Animals," but I have to admit that they lighten my spirits whenever we spend time together.
This is Finn, Geo's cockapoo. That breed title leaves a lot to be desired.

My beloved MARK MOZINGO was an hour south doing a show of his own, so he came to pick me up for some jeans shopping and soul food.
Along the way, we saw this:
And then we ate this:
Crispy black eyed peas:
Chicken biscuit? Yes, ma'am:
Pimento mac and cheeeeeeese:
Local greens salad with strawberries:
Collard greens:
Spork for dessert!
Chocolate bourbon pecan pie:
On the way back to the car, we passed a gorgeous tree that I couldn't help photographing:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Durham was another mural city. My favorite was Shrek's:
We'll come back to my mural design in just a bit, but first:
JENGA NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ted and Patrick commentated:
Tallest Jenga of the evening:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Mark came to see the show later that week:
I wasn't on, so I was able to finish the mural! This week's theme was Lucky Strikes, since they're made in Durham:
The technical director of the theatre had much grander plans:
Yes, that's a working socket.
Our mural involves...
A WORKING LIGHTBULB IN FESTER'S MOUTH:
Its hard to take photos of the white bulb, so I took a bunch with a blacklight:
Just for good measure (and to show the scale of the painting), a photo with our Fester, Blake!
Doug was a little upset that I'd once again painted a Fester-based mural... so to appease him, I painted a surprise above the mural in glow-in-the-dark paint:
He was so pleased, he signed by it:
Here is the signed, completed mural:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
We waved goodbye to Duram (and the prisoners in the window of the prison directly across the street):
And now we are in Baltimore! Land of crabcakes and the best seasoning in the East:
I'm excited to see what lies ahead, but I will definitely miss the amazing light-up mural and the wall with Paula Deen's signature:
Signed in brown butter.
Bye y'all!

F I N A L L Y ....Thank you
ReplyDeleteWhat was the name of that BBQ place you went to with Mark?
Daddy would love that pie :)
