Blues In The Night

I finally found home in New Orleans:

FRENCHMEN STREET, Y'ALL.

Live music.  Cheap beer.  Young, hip crowds.  Its everything I needed with none of the insanity of Bourbon Street.  Sam, Karla and I wandered from nook to cranny, listening to local bands blow us away with funk and blues.  We ended up at Maison Frenchmen where I ran into a friend from High School (really) and danced with a fabulous trumpet player.  I hope we go back on Saturday night!

We also discovered the coolest laundromat in the history of time.  Igor's - a bar/laundromat with a pumpin' jukebox and karaoke Wednesdays.  $2.00 a load and $1.00 for a game of pool equals a very successful night out with friends:

Even Gil got into the spirit of things:

He's a bit of a pool shark.  Don't bet against him, or he'll take you for everything you've got.  He may even play for pink slips on your Segway:

Don't worry too much, though.  You can always get it back by paying him in fried pickles.  He's an addict.

We've been doing our best to stay busy during tech.  Gil kills time by reading the Playbill over and over again:

Binge eating:

And of course, shameless flirting:

Even after all this, its hard to believe Opening Night is tomorrow.  This is the biggest show I've ever been a part of, and its thrilling to hear the audiences going wild every preview thus far.  I'm ready for the show to freeze and for everyone to get comfortable in the groove of what the show will be from now on.  There's a sense of community here, especially with the Family back home on Broadway cheering for us:

I can't wait to start understudy rehearsals so I can really sink my teeth into this material.  I can't wait to start performing with my friends.  I can't wait to wear these:

Stay tuned, friends.  Things can only get bigger and better from here!
